Type R gets new accessories for Australia

Honda Australia has released a new range of original accessories for the FK8. First up is a set of forged wheels that have been directly inspired from models like the infamous DC2 Integra Type R. There will also be a host of parts that can be done up in carbon fiber, including the rear wing, door sills and diffuser. You can also opt for an interior trim package that will give you a new dash inlay and trim pieces all finished in carbon fiber as well.

Really like the look of those forged wheels. Do we know if there are going to be offered in any other colors? Wish that they had gone with actual carbon fiber accessories rather than just a finish/wrap.

sure looks like the Honda gods answered because what I always loved about Type R styling from the 90's were wheels on the ITR and CTR similar to what we're getting here.

Finally a great looking set of wheels from factory. I agree that Honda really should have used the opportunity of proper carbon fiber options for weight saving.

Just a heads up that upon doing a bit more research into these wheels, it seems that Honda has priced them at around $13,999 for a set. I think that's completely absurd, especially for 8.4kg of weight saving.

That's crazy money to spend on a set of wheels. From what I recall if you were to opt for each of the new options, the total additional cost would be around $23k. That roughly brings up its fully spec'd price to $75k :|

Found a breakdown of the cost for each of the new accessories. While I agree there is a market for bespoke items like this, I do think the pricing is a bit aggressive.

20-inch white forged alloy wheel set -- $13,999
Carbon-fibre wing spoiler -- $2899
Carbon-fibre rear diffuser garnish -- $1999
Carbon-fibre interior trim garnishes -- $1699
Carbon-fibre door sill garnishes -- $1599
Carbon-fibre mirror cap garnishes -- $1299

For the price of those wheels you can get authentic aftermarket wheels for half as much and even less with tires. Honda will be targeting a very small percent of buyers that probably have a McLaren sharing a garage with their Type R

To be honest it makes more sense to just go with your own unique aftermarket setup. As nice as these wheels are, they'll end up being one of the more common mods. For that money you could easily get a summer and winter set with cash to spare.

Shouldn't be too difficult to source a similar looking wheel set. I just don't know why Honda thought it would be a good idea to make them such a premium option. They've really limited the consumer base that will be interested.
